Picked up some of these Globe-Style LED's for the bathroom while we were at Costco yesterday. They take about half a second to actually turn on, but they're BRIGHT.
As a side note, do incandescent bulbs dim when they get old? Because the old incandescent bulbs were supposed to be 40 watts as well, and these seem much brighter.
After reading a few articles, yes they do, over time... the filament may slightly overheat when it is first turned on and that both reduces the diameter of the filament but also produces a slight smokey residue on the inside of the glass...
