Thinking about doors and locks: the eventual goal with the front door is to have both the Push-Pull-Rotate lever-style doorknob AND something like the Kwikset Kevo Bluetooth Deadbolt.
That way, as you walk up to the door with your arms full of groceries or whatever, the deadbolt will unlock after talking to your phone, and you can simply hip-check the doorknob to get inside.
In theory, after driving an hour down the road, you could also check to make really sure the front door is locked via your phone.
At the moment though, there are other spending priorities :-(
