Busy Weekend

Aside from putting the new bed frame together, we got a lot of other things done already this weekend.

On Friday we started work on hanging the new lights. These three globes were actually hacked together from six original globes - three each of two distinct styles. I still think they are a little large, but Brianna loves them. The chair they are hanging above was part of a wedding present from my parents (Thanks Mom and Dad!) and they provide great reading light. One small detail that I'm kinda proud of (and took a lot longer than I anticipated) is the braid of three electrical cords running down from the ceiling.

I had just finished building the bed! I deserved a break!
I also got started on some of that automated lighting I've been excited about for awhile. Nothing is networked yet, but the controllers for these lights make the lights fade off and on in a really cool manner.

Brianna did a ton of painstaking work touching up the paint job in the room using a tiny brush to even out the edges at the transitions between paint colors. It's hard to get a good picture because it's fine detail work that encompasses the entire room. It seems like a small detail, but it really makes the room feel finished with nice sharp lines between colors.

All of the wall plates are up in the master suite, but we still need to re-install the floor trim. We also hung up the old curtains (after washing them) until we can agree decide on exactly what we want for window blinds in this room. The mirror isn't quite hung in the bathroom yet, because we decided to tear out the old cruddy caulk around the counter and redo the caulking before hanging the mirror, but that should be done tomorrow.

Beyond all that, there has been general cleaning and organizing around the house, and moving our clothes and things into the Master bedroom, almost exactly one month after we took possession!
